Our pieces are made from sustainable wood, and created in the UK. Each Tormar item is thoughtfully designed and crafted in small batches in our studio-workshop in Nottingham. We sell directly to you, the customer - no middle men, no long-distance shipping, no sitting on palettes, no out-sourcing. Ever.
Our Design Language...
Function - We begin by engrossing ourselves in the natural purpose of a piece. To design a better bed, we don't start by thinking about structures and dimensions, but about what makes an exquisite night's sleep or the perfect lazy morning.
Form - Next is the particular shape and way in which a thing exists in space. From our design studio, we sketch and scrawl - we play with line and silhouette, material and finish. We look to Scandinavian simplicity and Japanese elegance for our influences.
Sustainability - Every piece we produce must be repeatable - not by conveyer belts but by our craftspeople. Not for the sake of efficiency, but for the sake of our planet. We minimise waste by cutting cleverly, sourcing responsibly, and creating thoughtfully.
